Newsbee Desk: As a child, he lost his father prematurely and lost his education. He used to cook at the school where he used to study. Later, he opened Ghugani shop; But beyond that there is his identity, he is a Padma Shri recipient popular poet. The life story of haladhar nag will inspire you.
Wearing white dhoti and kurta. Long oily hair up to the back. There are no shoes on the feet. Ghugani seller with such a look naturally does not catch anyone’s eye But many do not know that this man, who lived a very unpretentious life, is a popular poet He also holds the Padma Shri honor.
Haldhar Nag spent his whole life struggling. My father died when I was 10 years old. Haldhar was then studying in third class. Haldhar had to do a lot of work in his life from washing dishes in sweet shops to selling ghugani in the streets. But his talent never gave up on life. Mother Saraswati’s blessing was on Haldhar, who studied up to the third grade, so every time she held a pen, the pearl of literature fell from her hand.
He started writing short stories in Kosli language from an early age. He started practicing poetry when he was a little older. In 1990, the first poem, Dhodo Bargacha, was published in a local newspaper. Then he sent four more poems to that magazine. They are also published one by one.
In 2016, he was awarded the Padma Shri by President Pranab Mukherjee. In 2019, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by Sambalpur University. Yet the ‘folk poet Ratna’ Haldhar Nag is still accustomed to living a simple life as before.
